A painful return to curry, cake, and coconuts

Do you know who I think is ripping people off? Those van shuttles that take groups to the airport. Yeah SuperShuttle, I mean YOU. And do you know which airline completely gone off the deep end? Yeah American Airlines, I mean YOU. But let me recap.
I left my car with a friend to try to avoid a repeat of ‘Let’s hit my car while it’s parked’ game between me and the neighbours. Since my flight was at 7a and I needed to be at SFO by 5a, I decided to take the SuperShuttle to the airport, a mere 10 miles North of my friend’s apartment. Simple enough right? I asked for the shuttle at 4a. Sounds like overkill but it wasn’t. SuperShuttle decided to cram 9 people into one of their vans and to take us to the airport. As a result, instead of telling me that it would take an hour and a half to go 10 miles and that I might want an earlier shuttle to get to the airport on time, they decided to get me to the airport at 5:40a for my 7a INTERNATIONAL flight. The driver was also extremely rude to an elderly passenger when she asked for help with the seatbelt. Enough of SuperShuttle though, this is where American Airlines comes in. The line is way past the ropes and there is ONE counter open. Good idea! Even better, let’s take ~20mins per person. And as icing on the cake, let’s send the rudest attendant to herd us into the check-in line. Let’s also offer you Pringles and 3 Musketeer bars for breakfast. Really? Don’t you think your passengers are fat enough? And the male flight attendant, no, my eyes weren’t closed, they’re just that small and I was awake in case you couldn’t tell because my lips were moving as I told you yes I’d like a drink as you sped by onto the next row without offering me anything. American Airlines, you really really are the pits. Did I mention we took off late too?
After 18 hours in transit, I finally landed on island shores. Coconut water, curried goat, Porpor’s apple cake. Heaven. Makes up for the ordeal.
